Heartbreak for King Charles

Captain Ian Farquhar, a close friend of the King, has passed away at the age of 78.
Ian had maintained a long-standing friendship with both King Charles and Queen Camilla, and he also served as the rider for the Queen Mother.
Renowned as a skilled hunter and accomplished horseman, he was a member of the Queen’s Own Hussars.
This loss adds to the King’s challenges, as he is currently facing his own cancer diagnosis. Additionally, the recent passing of Lord (Jacob) Rothschild at the age of 87 compounds the King’s grief.
In 2000, during his gap year, Prince William was romantically linked to Ian’s daughter, Rose Farquhar, and the couple enjoyed picnics in the picturesque Gloucestershire countryside.
Ian had long rented a farmhouse on the King’s Highgrove estate in Gloucestershire.
Stephen Parker Bowles, the first husband of Queen Camilla, informed the Daily Mail that Ian had been gravely ill.
He reported that Ian passed away at Highgrove early Wednesday morning, describing him as “as wild as a hawk in his youth, yet always a source of enjoyment.”
Stephen noted that Ian would be remembered as “one of the great Masters of Hounds.”
For 34 years, Ian held the position of Master of the Beaufort Hunt, a role that the Beaufort Hunt commemorated on Instagram in tribute to their former master.
The hunting community expresses profound sorrow in extending their love and condolences to the family and friends of Captain Ian Farquhar. For 34 years, he served us with exceptional skill and passed away peacefully this week.
Captain Farquhar was cherished and esteemed by many within the hunting community, affectionately known as “Captain.” He was always willing to lend a helping hand, exuding friendliness and providing insightful, progressive advice to those who sought it.
His remarkable sense of humor left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of sharing moments with him, recounting his unique and adventurous experiences in the army and as a hunter.
Captain Farquhar had a deep affection for hounds, his family, and dogs. We take comfort in knowing that a joyful pack of dogs awaits him in the afterlife, eager to reunite.
A quintessential countryman and a true gentleman, his absence will be profoundly felt.
